Four Topics on Energy Education That You Can Use in ENEBK

As a high school science project, you can explore future energy resources by asking students to explore three main topics: fossil fuels, wind power, and solar power. As you read the illustrations, take students to identify each form of energy resource presented and then identify whether it is a non-renewable energy resource or a renewable energy resource. for a class project. If you are teaching about fossil fuels as a major source of energy, you may want to incorporate videos about the impact of increasing CO2 levels on our planet. You can play the videos in the class library, on YouTube, or show them during lecture breaks. Explain the different forms of energy resources that are being used today and the need to develop alternative energy resources.


Another way to demonstrate how energy resources affect

our daily life is to show a chemical reaction. Assign an element to a particular element and show how a reaction occurs when that particular element is combined with another less common element. An example might be the combination of hydrogen and oxygen in an oxidation reaction. Focus on the efficiency of the method and the end product, which is electricity. Demonstrate the importance of using efficient methods and explain why they are better for your school than others.


The third topic that your class can focus on

is climate change and its effect on our energy resources. Focus on current methods of producing electricity and their efficiency in converting plant-based chemicals to other forms of energy. Explain the pollution caused by fossil fuels and how they are harmful to the environment. Distinguish between the use of fossil fuels as an actual energy resource and what we use them for. Finally, compare and evaluate how you can reduce the number of emissions that are caused by your vehicles, equipment, and building materials. Let your students see how this will affect their ability to pay for electricity and to heat their homes.


The fourth topic to discuss in your ENEBK course

is energy efficiency. You and your students will need to learn about the significance of energy efficiency, as it relates to creating electricity, heating water, cooling air, and performing many other activities. Discuss the difference between efficiency and the amount of energy required for the task, as well as how to reduce the amount of energy needed by improving the mix of energy resources used in your home or business.
