Advantages of Local Renewable Energy
For the longest time, people have been aware that we have limited supplies of fossil fuel, but very little has been said about the limitless sources of local renewable energy. Local renewable energy refers to power plants that use renewable energy sources like wind, solar power, and geothermal heat to generate electricity. There are many advantages in relying on local renewable energy over fossil fuel-powered energy sources.
One of the main reasons
why we need to rely on renewable energy systems is because they produce energy in great volume. The other reason is that fossil fuel used by power plants produces massive amounts of carbon dioxide that aggravate global warming. If we are to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere, we will also have to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide being produced by the burning of fossil fuels. By switching to renewable energy systems, we will be taking a giant step toward reducing carbon dioxide production and global warming.
Also, using local-scale renewable power systems reduces
the costs associated with the installation of large-scale commercial and industrial facilities. These costs include salaries paid to workers, huge investments in infrastructure, huge equipment and machinery, and so on. By producing your own electricity, you can take advantage of lower labor costs. The reduced cost of establishing your own local systems also reduces the costs of acquiring the materials needed for the construction of your new facility.
Because the electricity produced by on-site renewable resources
is produced at the consumer’s home, it is considerably cleaner than fossil fuel producing electricity. Also, because it is generated at the home, it does not pollute the air in any way, shape, or form. This is another reason why most local governments and municipalities are now supporting the use of green power. The pollution caused by fossil fuels and nuclear plants pollutes the atmosphere and destroys the natural beauty of our planet. On-site renewable power produces clean energy that does not pollute the environment in any way.
Another one of the many advantages
of using hydroelectricity generated at the user’s home is that it produces zero waste. Many environmentalists are now working to develop on-site hydroelectric power plants, which would eliminate the need for the use of municipal wastewater. Once again, by eliminating the need for wastewater, on-site hydroelectric power plants reduce the amount of energy produced and use the least amount of fossil fuels.
One final advantage to hydro, wind, and solar power
is that these renewable energy projects produce electricity that can power entire communities. Wind and solar farms have the ability to produce large quantities of electricity. When properly positioned and maintained, these power projects can power entire towns. In some rural areas of the United States, the production of electricity from on-site wind and solar farms has completely replaced all the electricity produced by local utilities. The evidence is mounting that large-scale renewable energy projects like wind farms and solar farms are very important for the future of the planet and the economy.
